Value Engineering

Varius staff includes some of the most experienced and diverse value engineering capability in the Northwest. While our list of value engineering (VE) review projects is extensive, it’s not VE experience that is valuable in this field, but rather experience in planning and designing utility systems. Without a wide depth of experience in planning and design, it is difficult to be an effective reviewing partner with the ability to see the opportunities that others missed. Too often VE programs are designed to justify rather than critique, and this can lead to more expensive and riskier solutions. An effective VE exercise includes an examination of the original goals and objectives but adds perspective that may not have been available to the original planning or design team, and this is when real value can be applied. With their extensive experience in the utility industry, including not just design and construction but also finance, operations, and risk analysis, Varius staff are effective and valued members of any value engineering team.
